How to sport red lips !!

How to wear red on your lips as per your skin tone

The colour red never ceases to amaze and what better way to flaunt this fiery colour by wearing it on your lips. A red lipstick not only looks classy but glamorous as well.

However, wearing red on lips becomes trickier as you don't want to look like a clown or a vampire. So to determine which shade of red will compliment you, you must know the undertone colour of your skin - in simple words the colour of skin under your outside skin. Wear a white shirt and stand under natural or bright light, you will see a predominant colour on your skin - yellow, red, pink or blue. If you see yellow or red, then you have warm undertones, while if you see pink or blue then you have cool undertones.

1. For fair/porcelain skin tone:

For those who have fair skin with pink or a little bit of peachy undertones, shades of red with a tinge of orange looks great. Apart from that, shades of coral red, crimson red or matte red will suit you well. A slight touch of gloss will add oomph to the colour and your entire look.

2. For medium brown/olive skin tone:

All those who fall under this category the good news is that almost all shades of red looks fabulous on you. However, if your skin tone is slightly towards olive or golden, pick a shade from true reds such as cranberry shades, pink-based reds, matte orange, shades of brighter reds along with yellowy reds. For evenings go for neutral shades of red. You can also go for matte and glossy look. Shades like cranberry and pink-based reds will also compliment your skin splendidly.

3. For dusky skin tone:

For those with dusky skin tones shades of red with hints of pink will look good on you. Darker shades of red like maroon, plum, dark cherry or those with purplish hues will brighten your look. You can also experiment by mixing brighter and darker shades of reds to bring in a new colour that will also look good. A touch of gloss will do more good than harm. For darker skin tones red matte lips compliments well.

While adorning any dark colour lipstick make sure to keep your entire makeup minimal. Simple eye makeup or winged eyes looks great with this fiery shade. Always apply a lip liner of the same tone or a tone lighter or darker and carefully. A touch of gloss for evening rendezvous will make many heads turn to you.

How to get rid of love bites

Amidst your busy schedules you try and take out as much time as possible to spend some quality time together.

And there are times when you get a little naughty, and in the heat of the moment the naughtiness leaves behind deep red, blue purple marks commonly known as love bites or hickeys. Getting one is not really that difficult but getting rid of it surely is one umpteen task. So here are some tips that can help you to get rid of those deep love scars.

1. Ice packs:

Ice packs are known to be the best cooling agents in such situations. Apply an ice pack, or a cold spoon on it as soon as possible after you get one. You can also wrap ice in a cloth and keep it on the affected area for a good 15-20 minutes. By taking it and putting the ice pack back on the bite in regular intervals, will reduce the swelling as well as it will lessen down the mark and the pain. You can also use a cold spoon. Deep freeze the spoon for few minutes and the press the back portion of the spoon on the bites. While using a spoon apply a little extra pressure so see quick results.

2. Makeup tools:

Another effective tool to hide the hickey is by using smart makeup tricks. The green-tinted concealer is the best as it negates the red tones of the skin. Apply a foundation that's a little lighter than your skin tone, directly on the hickey and all around it. The reason is to make it look like an even skin tone and not an attempt to hide the hickey. You can also dust a little translucent powder on it to give an even skin tone.

3. Brush it off:

Many people also swear by using toothbrush to wear off the marks. Opt for a brand new toothbrush with stiff bristles and start brushing it all over the area. This will stimulate the blood circulation, causing the marks to subside. But be gentle as applying too much pressure can make it worse.

If incase you have given more pressure due to which the redness spreads then add an ice pack on it and let it cool. The redness will automatically lessen down.

4. Paste it well:

You can also take a chance by using some toothpaste on it. Gently rub a small amount of the toothpaste on it and leave it for few minutes. It might tingle for a while, but once that stops, use a warm washcloth and gently rub it off. If the marks don't subside within 24 hours repeat the process.

5. Cover it smartly:

If you don't have enough time to try any of these methods then wear a high necked or a turtle neck shirt. You can also use a scarf or a stole to cover the ones on your neck. Also leave your hair down as that will also help in hiding the hickey.
