How To Shave Your Legs

How To Shave Your Legs. Hot pants, micro minis and teeny bikinis. Great for hot weather, but bad for hairy legs! Thankfully, there's a solution: master barber techniques that elevate the simple act of wet shaving … to an art form. Expert Danielle Malka shows us how to get the smoothest legs through shaving.

STEP 1: PREP YOUR SKIN

It's a lot easier to shave after you've taken a bath or shower. If you don't want to feel any stubble hours after your shave, don't skip this step.

STEP 2: OIL UP

Lightly massage pre-shave oil onto your legs. The pre-shave oil creates a layer of protection between your skin and your razor. By coating every single hair, the oil will allow the razor to glide easily.

STEP 3: BRUSH UP

Run your brand-new shaving brush under a warm tap or soak the bristles in warm water. Shake out the excess water and then gently dip the tip into a pot of quality shaving cream.

STEP 4: LATHER UP

Starting at your ankle, travel upwards while working the brush in small circular motions. Using light pressure, the foam will build into a rich lather and should end up feeling like whipped cream.

STEP 5: A LIGHT HAND

Beginning at the base of your leg with light pressure, slowly shave upwards against the grain of your hair growth.
Rinse your blade. Don't cheat on this step either-hairs caught in the blade will only undermine the next shaving pass.

STEP 6: SOOTHE YOUR SKIN

Rinse and dry your legs. Using your pre-shave oil as your moisturizer adds a bit of sheen and softens skin for maximum comfort.
